Clusters Downtime

29 Jul 2022 - smcgrat

Scheduled Downtime for HPC Cluster’s, August 15th, 2022

2022-08-15 Status - Maintenance completed.

The following Research IT hosted HPC Clusters are back in service:

  1. Kelvin (circa 09:50am)
  2. Lonsdale (circa 10:05am)
  3. Parsons (circa 10:30am)
  4. Boyle (circa 10:50am)
  5. Dalton (circa 12pm)
  6. Crusher (circa 12pm)
  7. Seagull (circa 12pm)
  8. Boole (circa 4pm)

Rsync access issues. A more resilient access configuration was deployed to rsync.tchpc.tcd.ie during these works. It was not expected to be significantly service affecting. However issues were encountered during the works that made rsync inaccessible for a period. Our apologies for that. Access to rsync.tchpc.tcd.ie was restored at approximately 13:40.

The Pople downtime has been postponed to August 29th.

Origional post.

To facilitate essential maintenance the following Research IT hosted HPC Clusters will be down for a period on Monday August 15th 2022.

  1. Boole
  2. Boyle
  3. Crusher
  4. Dalton
  5. Kelvin
  6. Lonsdale
  7. Parsons
  8. Pople
  9. Seagull

The remainder of that week, August 16th to 18th, is deemed to be an “at risk period” for the HPC clusters we host and while we do not anticipate any further disruption to their operation their operation may be unstable in the unlikely event of any additional remedial work being required.

This work should not affect other Research IT hosted services, e.g. web or storage servers we host for research groups.

We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience in this regard. If you have any questions about it please get in contact with us via ops@tchpc.tcd.ie.
