Rsync two factor authentication Both an SSH key and your Research IT password are required to login to rsync.tchpc.tcd.ie from the internet. Rsync is the access host available on the internet for the HPC Clusters which are only accessible from the Trinity network. If you do not have an SSH key logins configured for your rsync login please see our generating SSH Keys for logging in instructions for how to do so. To login with an SSH key pair please use the relevant instructions: Using an SSH key pair on Windows to login Using an SSH key pair on Linux...
Network Incident, August 22nd 2022 At approximately 16:44 on Monday Aug 22nd 2022 power to a network switch was accidentally removed while other works were being carried out. That network switch is located in the Green Data Centre, (GDC), in Aras an Phiarsaigh and is the GDC side network link for the Research IT network between the GDC and the Lloyd Data Centre, (LDC). The Research IT network uplink to the Trinity network and hence the internet is located in the GDC. Because the link between the two data centres was severed, any systems or services which are hosted in...
Incident affecting Lonsdale, Kelvin & Parsons HPC Clusters At approximately 11:10am on Tuesday August 9th 2022 an equipment failure took place. The affects of this where: The Kelvin, Lonsdale and Parsons HPC clusters job queue was drained, running and pending jobs failed and all nodes where marked down. Rsync, our access node, was inaccessible. Status. As of 2022-08-09, 12:10pm the most critical systems are back and the Kelvin, Lonsdale and Parsons HPC clusters job queues are again processing jobs. Approximately 8 Kelvin compute nodes remain without power at the time of writing. We apologise to those affected and are grateful...
Incident affecting rsync & lonsdale cluster At approximately 22:55 on Friday Jul 29th 2022 an equipment failure took place. The affects of this where: 13 Lonsdale nodes lost power and or network access. rsync.tchpc.tcd.ie lost access to the /home and /projects file system mounts. The clustered network file system (nfs) nodes that provide those file system mounts were unavailable because the network switch they were connected to lost power due to the equipment failure. This would have prevented people from being able to copy files too and from those file systems via rsync. Users who logged in with SSH keys...
Scheduled Downtime for HPC Cluster’s, August 15th, 2022 2022-08-15 Status - Maintenance completed. The following Research IT hosted HPC Clusters are back in service: Kelvin (circa 09:50am) Lonsdale (circa 10:05am) Parsons (circa 10:30am) Boyle (circa 10:50am) Dalton (circa 12pm) Crusher (circa 12pm) Seagull (circa 12pm) Boole (circa 4pm) Rsync access issues. A more resilient access configuration was deployed to rsync.tchpc.tcd.ie during these works. It was not expected to be significantly service affecting. However issues were encountered during the works that made rsync inaccessible for a period. Our apologies for that. Access to rsync.tchpc.tcd.ie was restored at approximately 13:40. The Pople...
